Green tea is the dried leaves of tea plants (Camillia sinensis). The difference with black tea is way the leaves processed.

Polyphenols, one of the materials contained in green tea is what gives the action of antioxidants. Studies show that tea has more antioxidant power than vitamins C and E.
Green tea is proven 200 times more effective than vitamin E in neutralizing the effects of oxidative substances and free radicals in brain lipids (which are on the cell membrane).

It also reduces and prevents the formation of peroxide radicals (highly oxidizing).

Many investigations of the effects of green tea is focused on cancer. One of the most important anti-cancer action is the inhibition of carcinogens such as nitrosamines (used as preservatives in cigarettes).

Besides anticancer actions, green tea also reduces total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol (commonly called "bad cholesterol"), which also involves the use of drugs such as cholestyramine, statins, fibrates or omega-3 fatty acids.

It also protects teeth and prevent from plaque forming.

The goodness of green tea :

- Contains a high polyphenols, which consists of various bioflavonoids.
- Rich in catechin polyphenols.
- Able to neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals that oxidize lipids.
- Lowers cholesterol.
- Prevent tooth decay.
- Protects the digestive and respiratory tract infections.
- Contain anticancer substances.

It will not be contraindicated with pregnancy or breastfeeding. Because it contains caffeine, if excessive drinking can cause nervousness, insomnia and anxiety.

Suggestion of use

Green tea can be mixed in pastries, ice cream, as it did in China and Japan.
